A beautiful vineyard!
It was established in 1787. It became Connecticut's first winery in 1979. It's located near Lake Waramaug; such a serene place to relax and drink some wine. They also have wine flights and charcuterie boards. We went when an event was happening; many awesome vendors selling their products. The lawn had plenty of tables to relax at and even sculptures. There were ample parking available. The service and wine were great too. It's definitely up there with one of my favorite vineyards in CT!
Every vineyard and winery is different, and part of the fun for me is checking them out. We all have different tastes so I suggest you do a flight to see what you like. There are food items to purchase as well as all sorts of knick-knacks. Indoor and outdoor seating is available, and on many nights, there's live music, too. Across the street is the Hopkins Inn which has an amazing restaurant with lake views and outdoor/indoor seating.
Hopkins winery is fun, beautiful and relaxing. The food is delicious. The charcuterie plate was perfect for the four of us, and paired perfectly with all of our wine selections. We sat upstairs at the Hay Loft but still received attentive service without any waiting and we were given helpful advice while perusing the menu. This was an excellent day with gorgeous views, tasty wine and lovely conversation. Thanks you all for a fabulous afternoon!
The vineyard is a family run business for over 200 years. It sits on a hill top overlook the big lake. The surrounding is beautiful. During the summer time it arranges some events and live music. The ambience is nice and relaxing.
When we went, it was a bit late and the temperature started to chill down. We decided to sit upstairs to enjoy the wine we just bought downstairs. The upstairs was decorated beautifully. But it had very strong garlic smell. The wine was okay. For over $20 a bottle I would expect a richer flavor. The staffs there were friendly. Overall it was a nice place to visit.
Great winery near spectacularly beautiful lake. You can purchase the wine and bring it to the huge picnic area. We purchased delicious Chardonnay and sat under the gazebo and listened to live music. We really had wonderful time at the vineyard.
