We just wrapped up the Little Explorers program and it really exceeded our expectations. Collin and Caitlin have built something really amazing here. It's way more than just a bike shop, it's a genuine community for outdoor families.
Ian was great with the kids. He's patient, fun, and really good at keeping 3-6 year olds engaged (not easy!). With only 3-4 kids per instructor, my kid actually got individual attention. They went from hesitant on the balance bike to asking when we could go back every single day!
I loved the mix of activities - some days were at the Rifugio doing crafts and balance biking through an obstacle course, Wednesdays they explored White Memorial. My kid came home with pockets full of "special rocks" and wouldn't stop talking about the bugs they saw.
The whole setup is beautiful, right next to all those trails. With a nice seating area for the adults. Everyone there genuinely seems to love what they do. If you're thinking about it for your little one, definitely do it!
I absolutely love this place and what the folks at KC&E are doing here in Litchfield. I've gone on multiple runs and rides out of Rifugio. It's the perfect meeting point and community hub for anyone interested in running or cycling, making friends and encouraging fun outdoor activities for your kids. It's a win-win all around. This is exactly what the area needed!
The Rifugio is an awesome full service bike shop. The weekly rides and runs are phenomenal. Having a space where liked minded people can gather, shop, and enjoy this beautiful corner of CT is exactly what we needed in Litchfield.
The Rifugio is exactly what this area has needed for years. It is a place that is founded on building community through outdoor experiences. The people are incredible, the adventures are fun, and the service is top notch. I got my bike serviced to perfection, and it was even cleaned for me, which I was not expecting.
