Wood's was always my favorite BBQ. I'd make the 53 mile trip once a year to treat myself. However, due to family obligations I haven't been in 10 years. It was a major disappointment and I'll never go back. I thought I lucked out since I didn't have to wait for a table, but others must have realized the change too. First, there were so many flies (inside), landing on the tops of the open BBQ sauce bottles. Disgusting. I ordered the pulled pork and beef brisket platter with 2 sides. The waitress was pleasant & the food was out in about 15 minutes. The portion was generous & the pulled pork was good, but the brisket was literally 1/2 fat. The sweet potato fries were dry and cold and the sweet potato casserole was nothing special. Even the corn bread recipe changed since I was there last.
Finally, my plan was to order beef ribs, but they no longer had them on the menu. Bummer, but I did have nice weather & the area is beautiful. Just need to find a new place for ribs.
Prepare to be blown away! This place is a culinary gem that has truly mastered the art of barbecue. Liz, you’ve absolutely nailed it! The pulled pork is incredibly moist and bursting with flavor, quickly becoming my new obsession. I can’t recommend their special Pulled Pork Secret Sauce enough—it’s a perfect blend of vinegar, pepper, and an explosion of taste.
The burnt ends? Pure perfection, definitely a 10/10 that I’ll be ordering again. Combining outstanding BBQ with Mexican flair, this is the kind of place you’ll want to visit again and again. If you had to choose a last meal, this would ensure you go out with a huge smile on your face! Highly recommended!
Been here many times the food is always great, love that they serve tortilla chips while you are waiting for your food. Had the special this time, it was pulled pork and enchilada with some side dishes too. The food was great and the portion sizes are nice and big!
