Shelter Cove Park

We enjoyed 2 summer concerts there this year.

Lived on Bay Ave in 2 different homes .once as a baby till 8 or 9yrs old then next to OC Mall for like 14 yrs..so I'm very familiar with the Barnegat bay Beach Shelter Cove it was a great night great band absolutely best fireworks at end of concert...lots a boats were out and lots of people on the beach. Great success for concert series 👏 overall fantastic night and meeting our buddies there was even more spectacular...

What a nice night! The band was great,beach was clean,restrooms were fine, shuttle service ran constantly. Thank you to toms River rec dept and all the people that set the event up👍

Shelter Cove Park is a nice, clean, bayside beach with a lot of space. It is very family oriented, with calm water and no waves. Plenty of parking and clean restrooms are available. There are also basketball and tennis courts, and soccer fields.

Cozy & quiet beach on the bay away from the crazy ocean beach season. Went on a Friday afternoon and it was $7 per person. Age 62 and older can buy a lifetime beach pass for Shelter Cove and Ortley beach for $15.
There were 2 volleyball nets set up, a parking lot, and convenient bathroom on site which I didn't use so I cannot describe it. There is not a concession stand on site so you will need to bring snacks and drinks, unless you drive out to the highway for lunch and go back.
Mostly women with small children, but very well behaved. The swim area is roped off and there is a lifeguard on duty until 5.
It's definitely a great place to relax by the water without the craziness of the ocean beach crowds and traffic.
