The park offers a magnificent setting for hiking, but when it comes to mountain biking, I believe it’s best suited for very skilled riders who have a trail bike. Personally, although I ride an XC full suspension bicycle, I particularly enjoy tackling the pipeline climb; it's an amazing challenge and perfect for those looking to chase a KOM. In my experience, it stands out as one of the best climbing segment I’ve tested in North East Pennsylvania

Be ready for a slightly strenuous climb. The incline is not too bad, but the uneven and rocky trails makes for a bit of a challenge. The large boulders are worth it, since they are pretty unique for this area of New Jersey. I saw some interesting fungi, and even spotted a black rat snake. Very nice trail, but just be prepared to be worn out.

This trail is not meant for bikes. Its purely mountain hiking. You will find rocky pathways 95% of the route. Make sure you come here early to finish the loop during day light. My calculation for this trail was somehow wrong and I was almost stuck mid way in the dark and was concerned if I will make it back to the parking lot or may loose my path. Map is a MUST if you try this trail. The YELLOW markings on trees during the entire routs helped me get back to the parking lot. So make sure you follow them ! Overall this was a good and unique trail. I could also spot the UNIQUE TREE. I have posted it's photo here.

Sourland is the perfect hiking trail for easy hikes. Easy location to find with plenty of parking. While it is an easy trail, there are several parts throughout the trail with slight elevation - though very manageable. I personally like to hike up and down the steep hill nearby the lake to challenge my hikes with more elevation. The trails have rocks and boarded “bridges” that can be slippery after a rain shower. I usually use my boots but I’m sure hiking/trail sneakers would be comfortable as well. Highly recommend if you’re in the Somerset area and not looking to travel far for an easy 3/4 mile hike!

Awesome hiking!!! For me, it's close to home but even if it wasn't, it'd be worth the trip. Today was my first time there. I love hiking and have hiked most areas in NJ. This is a great mid -sized preserve that has several miles of trails. I hiked about 6-7 miles today but you could extend that by about 3 more miles, without going in circles. If you repeat trails, you could go all day. The terrain and inclines are moderate. It is not boring or overly simple, nor is it overwhelming. It is a perfect place for a couple hours out hiking in the woods. It is very quiet. It does not get crowded. There is only 1 parking lot and it was almost full today but the trails still did not seem crowded. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you enjoy a good workout in nature.
