Tasty turkey Sloppy Joe. This place is busy but service is quick. There could have been more turkey on the sandwich but it was only $10 so it's OK.
I recently swung by Towne Deli in Summit, New Jersey, for lunch and decided to try their Italian Sub after spotting it on the menu—boy, am I glad I did! Tucked away at 810 Old Springfield Ave, this spot has that authentic neighborhood deli charm: simple setup, friendly folks behind the counter, and the irresistible smell of fresh meats and bread that hits you as soon as you walk in. The staff was super helpful, suggesting add-ons like extra peppers or onions, and my order was ready in no time despite a steady stream of locals popping in.
The Italian Sub itself was a standout—generously packed with ham, capicola, salami, pepperoni, and provolone cheese, all layered on a fresh roll with crisp lettuce, ripe tomato slices, and a zesty vinaigrette that tied everything together without making it soggy. It had that perfect balance of savory, spicy, and tangy flavors, with the meats thinly sliced and high-quality, not greasy or overly salty like some subs can be. At around $15, the portion was huge; I could barely finish it in one sitting and ended up saving half for later. I paired it with a side of their coleslaw, which was fresh and creamy with just the right amount of crunch, complementing the sub's boldness nicely. For a little extra kick, I added some hot peppers, which elevated it even more.
What I love about Towne Deli is how everything feels homemade and thoughtful—they're not just slinging sandwiches; it's clear they care about the details. They also have a great selection of drinks, snacks, and even liquor if you're grabbing stuff to go. The place is clean, with a few tables for eating in, and it's conveniently located near the train station, making it an easy stop for commuters or anyone in the area.
If you're craving a classic Italian sub done right, head to Towne Deli—you won't be disappointed. Five stars for the quality, value, and that old-school deli vibe.
We have been customers for a long time. This is somewhat of a special local place; generations of kids have enjoyed it throughout the years.
Experience - the telephone ordering is good.
Service - the service is good, they are nice enough people.
Food - all of the food is very good; breakfast sandwiches, sandwiches, excellent Mac & Cheese.
Cost - it can sometimes be expensive.
Overall, given the above, the value is good.
First visit, great sandwich. Bread makes it. Got the duke.
Always great going into Towne Deli. 54, 44, Vermonter and other great sandwiches on soft bread. Soft like a cloud.
Also got a Half and half that HIT out of the park. Along with their special baked Muffin made with apple and other greatness.
Thanks to the staff too. Looking forward to next time
