I recently purchased a sailboat that had been stored at Nichols, and I needed to work with their team during the purchasing process and for about a week afterwards to coordinate moving the sailboat. Although my interaction was relatively brief, the experience was so positive that I felt compelled to leave a review. Everyone I dealt with at Nichols was courteous, friendly and genuinely helpful, going out of their way to make a new boat owner feel welcome and supported. The previous owner, who stored the boat at Nichols for nearly a decade, also spoke very highly of the facility and its staff. After my own experience, I can certainly see why.

Nichols Yacht Yard is hands-down the top quality full service Marina in Westchester county. As an experienced boater and cabin cruiser owner, I've belonged to several marinas in Westchester and New York City / New Jersey. Dennis, Liz and Office staff are extremely organized, professional and responsive in communicating. Office personnel are excellent. Rob and his team leading the service department bring years of experience and are highly competent. Nichols is well equipped for all size boats with the largest lift and hauling capacity in the area. Docks are in great condition and maintained to a high standard.

I am a long-time customer of Nichols Yacht Yard for my 30’ Pursuit 3000 Express with twin diesels. I certainly have a choice of many other places to keep my boat, but have been with them for over 20 years because of their outstanding service and appreciation of their customers. They bend over backwards to meet your expectations and have a crew of service mechanics that cannot be beat. Their prices are reasonable and they are honest. They also have a very active and well run dry sail service. The yard is well maintained as are the docks and facilities. They are dog friendly. Being across from Mamaroneck’s Harbor Island Park, you can get a front row seat to the July 4th fireworks show without needing to move your boat, as in the accompanying picture. The yard is within easy walking distance of Mamaroneck Village with its many restaurants and shops, is well protected against storms, and is only a few minutes through the harbor to get to the open sound.

I have kept my Alerion 28 at Nichols since 2009, for both a summer slip and winter storage, and have been very happy with the yard and their work. The location is great, near Mamaroneck's restaurants, fuel docks, and a small chandlery. The harbor is well protected, and Nichols' floating docks kept my boat safe even during Hurricane Sandy. Sea Tow has a base across from Nichols, and the marina lies just across the channel from Harbor island Park (which provides a bucolic view as well as a prime location for the July 4th fireworks show). The manager (Dennis McCarthy) is very knowledgable about both sail and power systems, and there are also superb on-site mechanical repair and fiberglass services as well as boat washing/waxing. They will commission and decommission your boat, shrink-wrap over the winter, and do the bottom antifouling as needed. There is a large Travelift if you need a haul-out mid-season, and basic shore amenities such as bathrooms and showers. The office staff (Liz and Madeline) take care of all the paperwork and, weather-permitting, you can be pretty sure your boat will be splashed or hauled out when promised. Their prices are reasonable considering the area, and they don't add unnecessary expenses such as pulling the mast annually or removing and replacing batteries every season. There is round-the-clock yard and dock security, but the location is in a very safe area, even for the ducks and geese who will pay you a visit from time to time!
