I've been looking for a new snowboard and saw that these guys were having their "Big Tent" sale, so I headed in to see what they had.
Headed into the ski shop in back, and Will came over to see what I was looking for—I named the board, the (less-common) size, ideally from last season because new ones are pricey.
They had the exact board I wanted at 30% off the original price, and drove it up from their White Plains location for me the next morning.
Way cheaper than anything available online, in my hands the next day. Great service, great experience, I will be back.
We order a ton of ski and active clothing and gear online from brands like Arc’teryx, Sorel, and Rhone. The problem with shopping online for such things, however, is (1) often the look and style is not always what you think it is as online marketers are good at marketing (2) fit (sizing for ski pants, base layers, and jackets are always different for each brand an annoying) and (3) the best stuff online is sold out quickly as direct to consumer platforms keep limited inventory (and it takes one ski magazine positive review to sell out every Arc’teyrx Sabre AR jacket in Dec).
Pedigree is an incredible solution for these problems as they somehow ALWAYS seem to have the best gear from the highest quality brands in stock. More often than not they are the same price (if not less expensive with loyalty rewards) than the online sites (which is actually surprising). I also find new brands there all the time that we’ve never even heard of that always turn out to be incredible high quality pieces (there’s always cool random sweaters from high end Norwegian brands which are spectacular).
Other shops in fancy westchester towns are overpriced and never restocked so it’s always with it to travel a few exits north to pedigree.
I do not find them 10 to 20% more expensive (like most local shops who should be supported anyway) as indicated by other reviews here. I actually just saved money with a coupon and no shipping (not to mention trying on and instant gratification).
It’s funny bc last night I was hunting around for a new pair of Sorels and made a purchase. Walked into pedigree this am and saw the exact pair sitting there, less expensive, and was able to try them on and walk around (and realize I made an incorrect purchase).
Anyway, haven’t had any experience with their ski and snowboard maintenance (always go to h&t for that) but DEF a wonderful and go to place within 30 miles for all of our outdoor clothing, base layers, and other such stuff.
Friendly service. Prices are fair, about 10 to 15% higher than online. Which comes w customer service. Example: look bindings spx12 online $229
Install $45 total $274. @ Pedigree $249 including install. Total $249 you save $25. You can always wait for the sales in March.
Mark was very helpful and professional. Everyone there is always friendly and go out of their way to help me find what I need. I've been renting ski equipment for my family for many years and am always satisfied. I've never had any problems and always received fast, friendly, personalized service.
