Came for dinner on a Saturday night and had to say I was blown away by the flavors. We ordered 4 dishes: chicken tikka over rice, chicken and beef kofta, and lamb over rice! Each dish was prepared well done and full of flavor! The service provided by Humza was warm and friendly. The restaurant was exceptionally clean and we will definitely be back.
Though late, this hidden gem deserves to be appreciated. Three of my family members visited this place a couple of weeks back. Spacious, nice ambience, neat & clean and welcoming. We ordered initially 3 entrée and later rice pudding. While grilling the food afresh, a big bowl of fresh mixed rainbow salad was served with Afghan bread, followed by the food. The food taste was genuine and the quantity was generous.
We love Afghan food and go to different Afghan restaurants in Valley Stream itself i.e. Balkh Kabab, Flushing, Fresh Meadows-Bakhtar, Hicksville …. but never tasted Afghan food like this, very delicious, authentically well-seasoned w/o any coloring, fully cooked and moist. The service was great and the young man at the counter was polite and friendly. I’d be skeptical about the rice pudding, not so great at that price though their pricing is reasonably very competitive. They also have the POS issues which’re lately common in almost all the Desi restaurants e.g. adding cr card processing fee and other bothersome fees.
I’m going nowhere for the Afghan food but this place only as they need and deserve our local community support because this’s one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood. Though the location is odd, it’s still visible in a biz plaza and not that far with ample parking available in and around.
My family home has been in Valley Stream for 35 years and this is a nice recent family-friendly addition to Valley Stream's Halal food menu, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great and fast service. We had lunch & sampled the Chapli Kabab Platter, Chicken Tikka Kabab Platter & Kabuli Pulao. The included salad was just the right amount, fresh & tasted great with their special house dressing. The platter portions were more than we expected for the price. The chapli and chicken tikka kababs were well-cooked and flavorful, as was the accompanying rice, without being too spicy, as expected for the Afghan palate. The Kabuli pulao had the same delicious rice with the addition of delightful raisins and shredded carrots. The lamb in the Kabuli pulao was adequate and was so tender that it easily came off the bone but could have used a bit more flavor. The coffee was great and we appreciated that the usual soft drinks were included with the platters and that they offered Salaam Cola for a small fee. We also had the pleasure of meeting the friendly owner who was interested in knowing our opinion of the food and service. Would definitely love to come back for more!
Afghan House exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I walked in, the warm aroma of spices and freshly grilled food made me excited to try everything. The atmosphere is inviting and cozy, with a touch of traditional Afghan decor that really adds to the experience.
The food was absolutely incredible — every dish tasted homemade and full of authentic flavor. The kabobs were juicy and perfectly seasoned, the rice was fragrant and fluffy, and the sauces added just the right amount of spice and richness. The mantu dumplings were soft and flavorful, and the naan came out warm and fresh from the oven. You can really taste the care and quality in every bite.
The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff were friendly, patient, and attentive throughout our meal. They took the time to explain the dishes and make sure we had everything we needed. It felt like they genuinely wanted us to enjoy our time there.
Overall, Afghan House is one of those restaurants that leaves a lasting impression. The combination of amazing food, generous portions, great service, and authentic atmosphere makes it a place I’ll keep coming back to. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for real Afghan cuisine and a welcoming dining experience!
Delicious food and wonderful service!
Afghan Saffron and Spice is such a great find — not only do they serve authentic Afghan dishes, but it’s also a Halal deli! The meat was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. You can tell everything is made fresh with care. Their kabobs and kabuli palow were absolutely delicious, and even the breakfast wraps hit the spot. The staff was kind and welcoming, and the place has a clean, inviting vibe. Definitely worth visiting again — a perfect mix of Afghan comfort food and quick deli favorites!
