Mohonk Mountain House is a historic Victorian castle resort perched on top of a mountain in the Hudson Valley, and it truly makes you feel surrounded by nature — both indoors and outdoors. 🌿

The property has been owned by the Smiley family since the 1860s, and you can really feel the history and character everywhere you go. The architecture is beautiful, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. Every direction you look feels like a postcard.

If you love nature, fresh air, scenic hiking, and classic old-world charm, this place is really special and worth the visit.

Incredible views, stunning landscape, and such a calming, memorable experience. ✨

One of the better hikes in the mohonk area. If you decide to do it the pay off is great. Best for teens and adults in decent shape. No young children it can get pretty dangerous. You'll be going through the labyrinth and the lemon squeeze trail. But if you do have young ones or Seniors with you there is a alternative trail that takes you straight to skytop tower that is flat and manageable for them but it is still a bit of a walk going uphill. There is plenty of parking at the visitors parking lot but you still want to arrive early cause this place can get packed pretty quickly. There are two bathrooms along the trail and a port a potty. So make sure you use the bathrooms when you can cause they are far apart. If you decide to take the labyrinth trail I recommend wearing a long sleeve shirt a light jacket and comfortable hiking boots non-slip. You can wear sneakers but be aware the stone you'll be walking on can get pretty slippery in some points so take it slow. Also leave your pack or make sure it's lite and can collapse cause you'll be going through some tight spots. If you take the alternative trail you can bring whatever you want just remember it's still a bit of hike going uphill on gravel path but there are some flat boulders and benches along the way to take a breather and fuel up.

Excellent, memorable, beautiful, and so welcoming. Our second time at Mohonk Mountain House celebrating our anniversary and it gets better each day. We never wanted to leave! From start to finish it was just the most wonderful visit. All the staff seem genuinely concerned that you should enjoy your time here. The hiking is amazing. Beyond amazing. The views are breathtaking. Tons of activities! Horses, the lake, paddle boats and canoes, a terrific spa, Archery, group activities, indoor pool, lockers and showers, nice rooms, no TV, good wifi, lovely restaurant with great attention to detail in the menu, sweet and thoughtful evening entertainment and just the most beautiful land and views. Everyone who works here really tries to make your stay as good as possible. It's a really special place with so much history and owned by the same family since the late 1800s. It's remarkable being there, and we can't wait to go back! (It really is as beautiful as in all the photos. A very special place, indeed.)
