I’ve been to Love Hearts Bakery before and have generally enjoyed the food, which is why this experience stood out to me.
When I walked in, a younger staff member took my order and was very friendly. Everything came out quickly and without issue. However, when I went to pay, a different woman—who I believe may be the owner—was at the register, and the interaction felt uncomfortable and abrupt.
She asked what I had ordered, and I told her a breakfast sandwich. As she rang it in, I could see on the screen that it was around $5.85. I then mentioned I also had a Dirt Bomb (a small muffin). At that point, she noticed I was pulling cash out of my wallet and asked if I was paying cash. I said yes, and she immediately said, “It’s $10 even.”
That didn’t seem right, so I asked how much the Dirt Bomb was. She said $2, which would have put the total closer to $8 range, not $10. I probably should have said that doesn’t sound right…
And she didn’t explain the difference, didn’t even finish ringing in the full order on the register, and simply put the cash in the drawer. I paid and left, but the interaction felt odd and has stayed on my mind.
I don’t mind paying for quality food, but transparency and professionalism matter. Unfortunately, this experience left me uncomfortable, and I probably won’t return based on principle alone.
And lastly the dirt bomb was a bit dry… so there’s that.
Overall she made the experience weird.
The atmosphere is interesting here. The service was also interesting. I had never been so I asked the woman at the counter what was good. She said it’s what I like. I said well I’m asking you what’s good because I’ve never been here. I told her I like everything. She continued to say it’s whatever you think you’d like. We went around in circles for a good 2 minutes before I ordered. Definitely an interesting experience to say the least.
Cute bakery/coffee spot with a wide range of sweet and savory breakfast treats. My breakfast sandwich wasn't cheap but it was huge and very good, served on their own bread. Reasonably fast and friendly service.
The first picture was the inspiration photo. The second and third are what I received. Through email I was told that they could replicate something like the inspo photo, but the final product did not meet that expectation. While a discount was offered and appreciated, the cake was also a different flavor and size than requested. The cake had a good flavor, but was dry and did not have enough filling. It was a little disappointing to receive a cake of this quality when I was ensured my request was easily doable, especially considering that this cake was ordered weeks in advance.
11.17.23 Upon walking in you'll love the fresh smell of baked goods. It took me a good 10 minutes to decide what to get because everything looked so good. Quick service. Easy parking. Small indoors but enough tables for me to sit and enjoy my snacks.
