The Kadampa Meditation Centers in Huntington and Port Jefferson are both very beautiful places to attend classes. Kadampa Buddhism is authentic Buddhism teachings. Our Resident Teacher Holly McGregor is a beautiful representation of the compassionate and loving teachings of the lineages spiritual guide Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
I am so grateful for this helpful gem in beautiful Port Jefferson. For over a decade I have heard incredible teachings from numerous teachers. I have used the practical tools in my daily life to decrease my suffering and to help others do the same. Wishing everyone the increased happiness that meditation has brought to me!
Meditation has absolutely changed my life! My relationships are better, my blood pressure is lower, and my mind is at peace. I also get a more restful sleep. The teachings at the center are better than a therapy session. Dharma gives me the tools I need to navigate this crazy life and will make me even better in the next one. I highly recommend giving the Kadampa Meditation Center in Port Jefferson a try. You won’t be sorry!
The wonderful teachers at this center make you feel very welcome! The space itself is well lit, clean, comfy, and the meditation room has a feeling of openness even though it is not a huge space. It is a great place for beginners and those with years of experience because while you all learn the same techniques, which can be used in many aspects of life, everyone brings their own point of view. I like how there is group discussion about the meditative process after the guided meditation. You aren't pressured to share your thoughts, but if you choose to, everyone there listens with open hearts and minds. It is great to hear how other people think about and apply meditation to their own lives. While meditation apps can be easy to access from the comfort of your home, I think it is definitely worthwhile to also attend some classes because having a community to interact with is very helpful, especially if you are just starting out or need some encouragement to get back into practicing meditation. So definitely check out the Port Jeff Meditation Center! They have many classes throughout the week at various times, so there is probably something that will work for you, even for people with very busy schedules. It is fine to just pop-in for one class, there is no pressure to attend every week. Take some time to slow down and recenter yourself. You'll leave feeling better than when you came in.
I am very thankful to a friend who made me aware of KMC here in Port Jeff. The guided meditation and whole class is taught by knowledgeable and kind instructors. I always look forward to the meditation classes every week! Everyone at the center is so welcoming.
